Our seasonal yoga retreats are focussed on preventing and helping your body and mind for the weather changes during the year. We are living beings and need to be aware of external changes to re-adapt ourselves and get ready to face these changes. These seasonal yoga retreats are designed for this. Would you like to join us?
Winter is the time to rest and relax. The lack of light and falling temperature affect our emotions and energy level. According to Chinese medicine, the winter is the element of water: the YIN. The body organ related is the kidneys (which filter the blood for it to be able to circulate around the body to maintain the equilibrium). Winter is a season where we have to conserve our energy if you wish to welcome the spring. In winter time we need to load our bodies full of power and heat. It is quite important to look for food high in those properties such as cereals, baked vegetables, spices, pulses or nuts… Yoga, always doing the proper exercise, is the perfect complement for the body to give it the harmonic movements to cheer it up and ease the pain. It could also help to set the tensions free like an antidepressant effect.
Spring is time to “open”, to shine like the sun. It is the time to rebirth and renovation. According to Chinese medicine, spring is the element of wood. The body organs related are the gallblader and the liver. The spring involves the beginning of growth ( nature is in bloom). In spring is easy to see clearly and plan ahead and make decisions. To do it, we need to feel flexible and loose. Yoga practice can help us to feed our vital energy. Stretching muscles, tendons and ligaments we can invite sping inside us. Spring is time to flow, create or express what we feel. It is also the ideal time for a body purification to get rid of excess toxins and outpacing accumulation from winter (introducing more vegetables, fruits, natural juices, etc).
Summer is time to enjoy the sun shine and the good weather. Summer is related to the element of fire. The body organs related are the heart and small intestine. The heart’s energy is in charge of directing the emotional and mental activity. So, if we enjoy the energy of good health, our mind stands firm and stable, it is clear-thinking and alive. Summer is the perfect time to practise a smoother and conscious yoga.
Doing every movement and asana softly, help us to achieve more concentration and body awareness. At the end of the day, meditation is recommended to decrease the fire of our body. That helps us to balance the nervous system, calms the mind and also activates the circulatory system for improved breathing. This seasons requires liquids to drink and also full food of liquid such as fruits or salads.
The earth begins to moisten. The days are shorter and the leaves fall. We should be aware of external changes to prepare the body for the winter. The element that is associated with this season is metal. The organs of the body related to it are the lungs, the long intestine and skin. It is the season where nostalgia and melacholy say goodbye to the summer, so we have to work for the release of these emotional and physical states. Again it is a good time to detox and cleanse. Also gradually introduce more pulses and iron into our diet. Idealy, at this time, we should work on Pranayames which helps us to flow, balance and connect the conscious and uncoscious (it purifies blood, increases joy, clean lungs, revitalise circulation, unlocks the diaphragm and repressed emotions, etc…)
